Hurricane Maria update

On the evening of Monday September 18th 2017, Hurricane Maria made direct landfall as a Category 5 storm and devastated the island of Dominica. Maria destroyed our campground, our reception building, dining gazebo, kitchen and above all one of our main selling points- CarRod's Garden- forcing the temporary closure of the business.

Following immediate commencement of a reconstruction campaign supported by former guests and well wishers we were able to have a soft reopening, just over one year after, on Creole Day October 26, 2018.  Since then, we have continued to enhance our product/services towards providing our guests with a greater than pre "Maria" experience. In this regard, we have also implemented our Going Green Policy as part of resilience building and our contribution to conserving the environment.

Thanks for your kindness and generosity.

Protecting our natural habitat and conservation are our priority.

On start-up and with continued development of the RWR product/service concept, every attempt was made to maintain a balance between land clearing for erecting/locating buildings/structures and preserving the natural habitat so that the local vegetation, flora and fauna have been preserved, while the introduced flora has blended, into and enhanced the natural habitat. e.g. the names Kanawa Restaurant, and KANAWA Rum Punch derive from the name Kanawa which the area was called when it served as the lime plant propagation nursery for the then dominant Soufriere Lime estate owned by the British firm L Rose & Co.
